Atlantic Beach Championships Recap

On August 6th and 7th, 12 Senior Men’s and 9 Senior Women’s teams gathered at the Beach Park in Dartmouth try their luck at $2000 in cash prizes at the Atlantic Beach Tour Championships. This division featured teams from Newfoundland, PEI, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The youth teams were showing their strength as 3 of the 4 teams competition in the finals of the Men’s and the Women’s divisions were still teenagers. Pierre-Paul Goudin and Marc Richard came out victorious on the men’s side in straight sets against Harrison Callaghan and Kobe Shannon.
 
On the women’s side Victoria Haworth and Micaela Sabean triumphed in straight sets over Vienna Harwood and Katie Wagar (21-14, 21-10).
 
In the youth event, prizes including sand socks and ankle braces, were generously donated by Sportwheels. Nikola Doelle, and Sophia Oakley came out on top amongst the 16U division defeating Chelsea Sponagle and Brittany Plume.
 
In a very competitive 18U division, Marissa Macaulay and Kathleen Underhill captured the gold in a tight 3 set game against Vienna Harwood and Katie Wagar.
