Off-Season Program Regulations

The “Off-Season” begins the day after the last Indoor National Championships and runs through to the first day of the Tryout Period. During this time, clubs are able to provide two types of indoor volleyball programming: "Open" activities and "Closed" activities.
  1. "Open Activities" are available to all interested participants, regardless of their previous club affiliation. These activities typically include camps, clinics, house leagues, and introductory or skill-based programs. *
  2. "Closed Activities" are programs exclusively offered to individuals who were members of the club offering the program during the previous competitive season. Typical examples include skill-based programs, team training, and competitions. **
* For“Open Activities” where a certain level of play is required, for instance, when a club aims to offer a skill development program to experienced players, clubs may require participants to have prior club volleyball experience before joining the program. Clubs may also offer “priority” or “early” registration opportunities for members of their club. Tryouts are not permitted.

** Clubs will be permitted to compete in and out of province provided they abide by the following rules:
  1. The club forms teams exclusively with players who were members of the club during the previous competitive season.
  2. Each participant is a current Competitive Member.
  3. All Leaders meet Safe Sport requirements (Police Record Check and Safe Sport Training).
  4. The Club requests permission from VNS to compete “out of province” at least 2 weeks prior to the event.
Our goal with our Off-Season" regulations is to create an environment where a wide range of volleyball opportunities are available. While at the same time, maintaining the integrity of our Tryout Policies, and ensuring a level playing field for everyone when forming teams.
