Brad Barton- Hall of Fame Inductee

We are beyond excited to share that Brad Barton has been announced as an inductee into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame Today. Brad is a long time contributor to the Volleyball community in Nova Scotia through officiating, coaching, playing and volunteering.  
 
The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame recognizes people from all over Nova Scotia for their outstanding contributions to sport. Over 100 people were nominated this year alone and Brad is one of eight people to be inducted. The official induction will be held on November 10^th at the World Trade and Convention Centre with over 1,000 people in attendance. "After 51 years refereeing volleyball it is very hard to pick just one [highlight]" says Brad.
 
Brad has been recognized and awarded accolades many times for his efforts including receiving:
- Olympic Games referee 1976 and 1984
- National Officials committee Lifetime Member Award
- The Queen Elizabeth 11 Commemorative Jubilee Award
- Recipient of The Order of Canada
-And many more.
 
Brad comes highly recommended by his colleagues, David Fairfax, Regional Officials Chairperson at the Nova Scotia Volleyball Referees Association says, “ Brad is well deserving of this Honour and will represent Nova Scotia well as it’s newest inductee to the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame.”
 
Volleyball Nova Scotia President Paul Worden comments on how Brad has left his stamp on Nova Scotia,  “ Brad Barton represents the best of the volleyball and sporting communities in Nova Scotia. His life given to the advancement of sport, its ideals and most importantly its people ensures that his legacy is imprinted on volleyball in Nova Scotia for the foreseeable future.”
