16U Male Canada Cup Head Coach Announced

​Volleyball Nova Scotia is excited to announce Jonathan MacDonald (Halifax, NS) as the Head Coach for the 2019 Team Nova Scotia Male 16U Canada Cup program.

Volleyball Nova Scotia is excited to announce Jonathan MacDonald (Halifax, NS) as the Head Coach for the 2019 Team Nova Scotia Male 16U Canada Cup program.
 
MacDonald has an extensive playing and coaching background. As a Nova Scotian athlete, he was a starter at the Outside and Setting positions for Dalhousie University from 2012-2016, as well as a multi-position starter for the 2013 Team NS Canada Games Team. His most recent playing experience was setting in the Swedish Elitserien (First Division) with Tierp Volley in 2017-18 and Habo Wolly from 2018-19.
 
MacDonald has been a Team NS Head Coach in 2016 for the 15U male program and again in 2018 for the 17U male program. He has spent time on the female side as an Assistant Coach with the 2017 Team NS Canada Games Team. While in Sweden, he assumed the role of Head Coach with both the Tierp and Habo Wolly teams he was playing with. Finally, he was recently named as the Head Coach for the ACAA women’s program at Holland College in Charlottetown, PEI.
 
When asked his thoughts on the 16U Canada Cup program, MacDonald said “I’m excited about the opportunity to work with a talented 16U group and get to see how we stack up against the best players in the country at this age. Getting the chance to compete at such a high level on your home court is a rare opportunity and I can’t wait to be a part of the event.”
 
MacDonald, along with this group of top 16U male athletes, will represent Nova Scotia at the 2019 Canada Cup. Applications for Assistant Coaches are now being accepted. The Canada Cup will be hosted at Dalhousie University in Halifax from July 18-21.
