2023 Team NS Summer Indoor Program Information
 

VNS is excited to share Team Nova Scotia indoor training and competition programming plans for traditional 18U female/male and 16U female/male programs. We are also looking forward to piloting a 14U female/male Team NS experience this summer.

ELIGIBLE ATHLETES:      

  • ​18U* - Born in 2005/2006

  • 16U* - Born in 2007/2008

  • 14U*/*** - Born in 2009/2010 (2011’s are not eligible for this program)

    • ​*Note: Team NS Programming follows the traditional calendar year, not the extended 16-month window of club volleyball.
      ***Note: 14U eligible athletes MUST have played a full season of club volleyball to attend an Open Identification Session, and be considered for Team Nova Scotia. This is not an instructional session/learn to play opportunity.  


Directly below, please find information on Team Nova Scotia Regional Open Identification Sessions hosted around the province. Below that you will find a general program overview.
 

OPEN REGIONAL IDENTIFICATION SESSIONS: Registration Details

  • Registered athletes will be scheduled to attend one session (1.5-2 hours in length).
  • Many locations have multiple dates, and multiple sessions per day. We will be providing a window of time during which an athlete's session will occur, and will provide a more specific time to athletes at a minimum of 48 hours prior to their session.
    • If an athlete has specific time restrictions to which session they are able to attend (Ex. weekend tournament, out of province, etc), parent/guardians should email VNS Development Director Jon Elliott those needs.
 
  • Event / Program Registration: Please scroll the Regional ID session options in Sportlomo, and carefully select your desired location, and age group.
  • Follow the link and step by step instructions below to register for an event or program.
      1. Follow this link to the Events Registration 
      2. Go to the bottom of the page and click “Purchase/Register for Events”
      3. On the next page you will be asked to “Log In”
      4. Click the “Buy” icon beside the event or program you’d like to purchase (ensure your desired location and age group are correct)
      5. On the next page input the PURCHASER’S CONTACT INFORMATION” and hit “Save”
      6. On the next page input the player's information and click “Continue”
      7. On the next page enter credit card details and hit “Continue” to pay the program fee.
  • Regional ID Refund Policy
    • Participants withdrawing up to 24 hours before the event date will receive a full refund minus the Sportlomo service fee.
    • Participants withdrawing within 24 hours of the event date, or who do not attend the event, will not be refunded.

VALLEY REGIONAL ID SESSIONS:
  • Date: Wednesday April 5 (registrants emailed), Thursday April 6 (registrants emailed), Wednesday April 12 (registrants emailed)
  • Time: 7-930pm, sessions are 1.5 - 2 hours long
  • Location: Horton High School, 75 Greenwich Rd S, Wolfville NS
  • Cost: $25
  • Deadline: April 2, 2023 by 11:59pm CLOSED
  • Details: Athletes will be notified via email on or before April 3 by 5:00pm as to their specific session date/time.

HRM REGIONAL ID SESSIONS (18/16/14U Female & Male):
  • Date: Friday April 14 (registrants emailed), Saturday April 15 (registrants emailed), Sunday April 16 (registrants emailed)
  • Time: Friday between 5-9pm, Saturday & Sunday between 9am-9pm, sessions are 1.5 - 2 hours long
  • Location: Canada Games Centre, 26 Thomas Raddall Dr, Halifax NS
  • Cost: $25
  • Deadline: April 4, 2023 by 11:59pm CLOSED
  • Details: Athletes will be notified via email on or before April 10 by 5:00pm as to their specific session date/time.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL ID SESSIONS (18/16/14U Female & Male):
  • Date: Monday March 27 (registrants emailed), Monday April 3 (registrants emailed)
  • Time: Between 5-9pm, sessions are 1.5 - 2 hours long
  • Location: Memorial High School, 300 Memorial Drive, Sydney Mines NS
  • Cost: $25
  • Deadline:
    • March 23, 2023 by 11:59pm for 14U, CLOSED
    • March 30, 2023 by 11:59pm for 16/18U, CLOSED
  • Details:
    • 14U Athletes will be notified via email on or before March 24 by 5:00pm as to their specific session date/time.
    • 16/18U Athletes will be notified via email on or before March 31 by 5:00pm as to their specific session date/time.

SOUTH SHORE REGIONAL ID SESSIONS (18/16/14U Female & Male):
  • Date: Tuesday March 28 (CANCELLED), Tuesday April 4 (registrants emailed),
  • Time: Between 5-9pm, sessions are 1.5 - 2 hours long
  • Location: Bluenose Academy, 18 Tannery Rd, Lunenburg NS
  • Cost: $25
  • Deadline: March 30, 2023 by 11:59pm, CLOSED
  • Details: Athletes will be notified via email on or before March 31 by 5:00pm as to their specific session date/time.

DIGBY REGIONAL ID SESSIONS:
  • Date: Tuesday March 21 (14U ONLY, registrants emailed), Thursday March 30 (16U/18U ONLY, registrants emailed)
  • Time: Between 5-9pm, sessions are 1.5 - 2 hours long
  • Location: Saint Marys Bay Academy, 4079 Evangeline Trail, Saint Bernard NS

ANTIGONISH REGIONAL ID SESSIONS (18/16/14U Female & Male):
  • Date: Wednesday March 22 (CANCELLED), Thursday March 23 (registrants emailed)
  • Time: Between 5-9pm, sessions are 1.5 - 2 hours long
  • Location: St FX Saputo Centre, 1140 Convocation Blvd, Antigonish NS
  • Cost: $25
  • Deadline: CLOSED
  • Details: Athletes will be notified via email on or before March 20 by 5:00pm as to their specific session date/time.

NEW GLASGOW ID SESSIONS (16/14U Female & Male):
  • Date: Friday March 24 (registrants emailed)
  • Time: Between 5-9pm, sessions are 1.5 - 2 hours long
  • Location: North Nova Education Centre, 343 Park St, New Glasgow NS
  • Cost: $25
  • Deadline: CLOSED
  • Details: Athletes will be notified via email on or before March 21 by 5:00pm as to their specific session date/time.
 

2023 PROGRAMS

  • 18U Female/Male (2005/2006*)

    • The 18U program is focused on the development of performance. The athletes selected from the Identification and Selection process will participate in five training weekends followed by a national competition. The focus will be on preparing athletes for their next level by developing higher-level skills and integrating Team Nova Scotia playing systems based on National Team systems.

      • 1 Female Team, 12 athletes
      • 1 Male Team, 12 athletes
        • 18U eligible athletes who were a part of Team Nova Scotia 2022 - on either the 18U team that competed in Fredericton, or the 19U team that competed at the Canada Games - will receive a Direct Invitation to the Team Nova Scotia 18U Selection Camp scheduled May 26-28.
  • 16U Female/Male (2007/2008*)

    • The 16U program is focused on the development of athletes who are starting their high performance journey. The athletes selected from the Identification and Selection process will participate in five training weekends followed by a regional competition. The 16U program is meant to strengthen the Team Nova Scotia culture and technical identity while exposing players to a higher level of training and competition. 

      • 1 Female Training Group, ~20 athletes train together, divide into 2 teams at competition

      • 1 Male Training Group, ~20 athletes train together, divide into 2 teams at competition

  • 14U Female/Male (2009/2010*)

    • The 14U Program will allow identified athletes from across the province to be introduced to a high-performance style of training and instruction through one training weekend and an overnight training camp/competition. The goal of the program is to expose more athletes to high performance volleyball concepts, as well as Team Nova Scotia culture and technical identity.

      • 1 Female Training group, ~30-40 athletes, divide into multiple teams for inter-group competition

      • 1 Male Training group, ~30-40 athletes, divide into multiple teams for inter-group competition
