Hall of Fame Nominations



We are now accepting nominations for the Volleyball Nova Scotia Hall of Fame. 
 
The Hall of Fame celebrates the outstanding achievements of athletes, coaches, referees, teams and builders from across the province. These individuals represent the very best of our sport, not only by virtue of their athletic achievement but also through their dedication and commitment. Help us recognize those who have made a tremendous contribution or have participated at the highest levels of volleyball by submitting a nomination.

Nominations will be accepted at any time before July 15, 2020. Nominations will be retained by the selection committee and considered for a period of five years. Additional information in support of the nomination will be accepted by the committee during the five year period.  

Before starting a nomination, please have the following information available:
  1. The nominee's contact information
  2. A document outlining in reverse chronological order the detailed description of the nominee’s achievements (i.e., awards, championships, etc.) or accomplishments (i.e., National Teams, Provincial Teams, International Competitions, etc.) and any other pertinent information. Please place in order starting with their most recent accomplishments. Please refer to the criteria below when developing your document.

Categories for recognition: 1) Athlete 2) Builder 3) Team 4) Referee and 5) Coach.
 
1. Athlete
Must have participated in Volleyball Nova Scotia programs for a minimum of two years (club and/or provincial team) at some time in their career.
  • Accomplishments to be considered include:
    • A high finish in any Canadian National Championships at all levels.
    • Canada Games participation and success.
    • CCAA/U Sport All-Canadian and/or Major Award Winner *requires a connection to VNS.
    • National Team member and success.
    • World Championship, Pan Am Games, Olympic participation, or other recognized International event.
2. Team
  • The team, at some time, must have competed in a league or system that is recognized by VNS.
  • Accomplishments to be considered:
    • Exceptional single seasons (eg.; undefeated championship teams, teams winning in higher levels).
    • Consecutive championship teams.
    • Exceptional unbeaten streaks.
    • A high finish in any Canadian National Championships at any level.
    • Canada Games success.
    • Any other exceptional accomplishments.
3. Builder
  • Must have served in a volunteer or paid capacity in the Province of Nova Scotia for a minimum of five years.
  • Accomplishments to be considered include:
    • Commitment to the sport of volleyball as demonstrated by years of service and activity, such as coaching, managing, organizing and volunteerism.
    • Extraordinary contributions to the development of volleyball programs or events in Nova Scotia or beyond.
4. Referee
  • Must have refereed a minimum of five years in the Province of Nova Scotia and in a league or system that is recognized by VNS.
  • Accomplishments to be considered include:
    • Commitment to the sport of volleyball as demonstrated by years of service and activity.
    • Assignment to major championships and events.
    • Level of certification attained.
    • Mentorship in the development of other referees.
5. Coach
  • Must have coached a minimum of five years in the Province of Nova Scotia and in a league or system that is recognized by VNS.
  • Accomplishments to be considered include:
    • Exceptional single seasons (eg.; undefeated championship teams, teams winning in higher levels).
    • Consecutive championship teams.
    • Exceptional unbeaten streaks.
    • A high finish in any Canadian National Championships at any level.
    • Canada Games success.
Please provide as much detail as possible on the various contributions and accomplishments of each individual or team in your nomination. 

The Awards Committee will review the all the nominations. A maximum of three inductees will be inducted annually. It may be the case that fewer or no nominations will be successful in any given year. Nominations that are received after the close of nominations will be set aside for consideration in the following year.
